5 fun-filled bank holiday days out (with or without the kids)

With the bank holiday weekend upon us, you might be thinking about how to get out and about, either with or without your little ones!  Whilst the weather looks a little bit changeable, there is still plenty of fun-filled activities on.


1) The Big Bake, Newstead Abbey, Nottinghamshire: 25th, 26th & 27th August 2018


Okay, so for those who know Dave will know he LOVES cake. Any opportunity for cake and he's there! The Big Bake brought to you by The Great Food & Drink Festival is taking place this weekend at Newstead Abbey. With great demonstrations and, of course, lots and lots of cake what more could you need? Sophie Faldo, Great British Bake Off winner, Molly Robbins, from Channel 4’s Extreme Makeover and Paul Young, master chocolatier, will be amongst those demonstrating.

2) West Bridgford Gin Festival, Nottingham Rugby Club, Nottingham: 25th & 26th August

This time last year, we wouldn’t have battered an eyelid to hear about a gin festival. However, we have now seen the light! And with over 60 gins on offer, gin masterclasses to enjoy, a choice of beers, wine & prosecco, along with live music, entertainment & street food the West Bridgford Gin Festival has so much to look forward to!

Entry is £16 per ticket, which includes 1 free gin & your own goblet gin glass to keep! This event has 2 sessions per day 12pm until 5pm and 6pm until 11pm, please remember this when booking to ensure you get the date and time you would like as we have 4 ticket options.

3) Summer nights film festival, Wollaton Park: 24th, 25th & 26th, 27th August


Looking for something to do in the evenings? Why not pop along to Wollaton Park’s alfresco film screenings. They’ve got a variety of films on offer and fun for all the family (don’t forget to check the age rating for the film you want to see though!)

 August 24 - It (15).

August 25 - The Greatest Showman (PG). SOLD OUT

August 26 - The Dark Knight Rises (12A).

August 27 - Beauty and the Beast (PG).

 Doors open at 7pm and the film will start once the sun goes down (fingers crossed!), the films will generally go on regardless of a bit of rain so make sure you check the weather forecast!

4) Robin Hood Festival, Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire 27th August - 2nd September

Looking for some fun for all the family? Sherwood Forest’s Robin Hood Festival returns for the 34th time on Monday 27th August. The festival has something for everyone and is a great way to get those kids out from in front of the TV. Expect storytelling, street theatre, traditional music and of course skirmishes between Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham which will provide a whole new level of excitement!

5) The MINDFUL Tea Ceremony, Nottingham: Sat 25 August 2018, 13:50 – 15:40

Love tea? Looking to relax this bank holiday? And enjoy something rather different?

Maybe the Mindfull Tea Ceremony might be for you. It often feels like we don’t stop and just enjoy things doesn’t it - especially when you’ve had the kids running wild all summer! The mindful tea drinking ceremony will help you to let the outside world drop away, whilst you simply enjoy being you. It’ll start with a 15 minute meditation followed by two 40-minute silent tea session with a short break in between.

This will give you a totally different perspective on tea and will help all of life’s stresses melt away.
