Why do we think Ms Moo Makeup are awesome Nottingham makeup artists?
We first met Ms Moo (also known as Sali!) a couple of years ago as she did the makeup for a stylised shoot we were involved in for Tying the Nott wedding fair. As you can see above, she did a stunning job with one of the models, Louise’s makeup. As she says below, she’s a joker, she chilled out, knows how to calm a bride’s nerves on a wedding day and aims to make brides feel like themselves but the best version of themselves. She sounds like a great, person to have around on your wedding day morning, don’t you think?
We wanted to know more about Ms Moo – so we asked her!
Where are you based and how far from Nottingham do you travel?
“I always joke that I’m very well behaved makeup artist and will travel to wherever I’m told! I’m based in Nottingham’s city centre but I’m happy to travel all over the UK, and beyond if needed. Have passport, will travel!”
How would you describe your business in three words!
“Good question! Cruelty free beauty. Naturally made up. Banter and beauty! It’s always commented on how I’m funny and calming, which really makes me happy; with a decade in business I can see when brides get tense, and I can melt those nerves away with some quiet words and a cheeky joke.”
Why should a couple book a makeup artist?
“I make my brides look and feel like the best version of themselves. It’s important to me that your makeup makes you feel good and look good, so we’ll take the time at your trial to make sure we achieve that. You won’t be caked in makeup, you’ll feel and look like yourself, and your makeup will stay put all day and all night. Simple principles but very important ones for me.”
What inspires you in your business?
“As well as doing weddings, I teach people how to apply their own makeup. I’ve taught a lot of transgender clients across the years and I’m always happy that I can help my clients live their life. Makeup is for everyone and anyone; there are no boundaries with makeup, and I love how it can make people feel good about themselves. We need more of that in the world!”
On average, how much do couples spend with you?
“I always quote based on how many people there are for me to do makeup, and where I’m travelling to. I have a package that’s always really popular for the bride and three additional adults which is £350. It can be anyone at all that wants makeup but I’ve found there does tend to be 2/3 bridesmaids at a lot of weddings.”
What makes your business special?
“- I want you to look like you, and feel like the best version of you.
– I’ve got ten years of experience of knowing how wedding mornings work; there is nothing that will phase me!
– I will only use makeup that doesn’t test on animals.
– I have a potty mouth, and a filthy sense of humour; I’m always happy to lower the tone, and be the joker.
– I will tell you when your drink is running dangerously close to empty ;)”

Lilly Monroes Hair And Makeup
Why do we think Lilly Monroes are awesome Nottingham makeup artists?
We’ve not met the lovely sisters over at Lilly Monroes in person (yet!), but we shot the wedding of Chloe (above) and Craig last summer and doesn’t she look stunning? When we chatted to her after her wedding day and asked her which suppliers she particularly loved on her wedding day, Chloe picked out Lilly Monroes:
“Vendors wise, we loved all of them. But I think Lilly Monroes, who did all our hair and makeup in the morning were a standout on the day. Apart from doing a fantastic job and making us all look incredible, Danielle was very good at calming my nerves. I say nerves, maybe not nerves but I was really anxious as you can imagine, didn’t have much sleep. I think I got three hours tops and she just help me deal with those morning nerves, which I’ll be forever grateful for.

Where are you based and how far from Nottingham do you travel?
“We are based just out of the city centre of Nottingham and we have no limits on travel, we’ve travelled as far as Ibiza and Portugal.”
How would you describe your business in three words?
“Innovative, reliable & down-to-earth ”
What inspires you in your business?
“As a business we are inspired by timeless elegant looks and looks from the Hollywood red carpet. Hard work and creativity among others working in the industry inspire us. My sister who does the hair side of Lilly Monroe’s inspires me everyday to do better and to work harder.”
On average how much do people spend with you?
“On average, a single client can spend on average between £70 -£130.”
What makes your business special?
“I feel our business is special as it’s a family run business, 2 sisters one makeup and one does hair that absolutely love there business and what it involves. We never had a dream for the business to grow massively as we love the intimacy of our hair and makeup appointments and like the fact that’s it’s not hustle and bustle when you come to the salon.
We wanted a place for brides to be to be able to relax and for it to have a chilled atmosphere, where we can chat, have fun and for the bride to know they have our undivided attention. Having hair and makeup in one place means we can all work together to create the perfect look. Most of all we care and understand every bride has a unique style.”

“My average spend is £450 as this is the price for my Bride plus 3 package. The package covers a trial for the bride, bridal makeup 3 adult bridesmaids or mums and a 30 mile round trip.”

Kaye has over a decade of experience working in the makeup industry, from TV shows and music videos to beautifying brides on their wedding day it’s clear to see she is an incredibly talented makeup artist. “I’m based in Quorn just outside of loughborough so I’m around 14miles from Nottingham and normally travel up to an hour to venues and prep addresses.”
How would you describe your business in three words?

What inspires you in your business?
“Each and every one of my unique brides inspires me in my business. To see the pure joy of making someone feel like the best version of themselves on the biggest day of their lives is priceless and keeps my enthusiasm for my job/passion alive.”
On average how much do people spend with you?
“I would say on average a bride would spend £250 – £300 which would include a trial, her makeup on the day plus 3 bridesmaids.”
What makes your business special?
“I feel my genuine enthusiasm and love for my job makes my business special. I’m always so grateful to every Bride that chooses to book me as I genuinely get butterflies of excitement for each one of my brides. To experience their journey from when they first enquire, to meeting them at the trial and hearing all about the exciting wedding plans and to then see the whole look come together on the morning of the biggest day of their lives is so special! I often forget I’m not actually going to the wedding I feel that involved!
Every Bride and every wedding is so different and I honestly never feel like I’m going to ‘work’. I’m living my dream!”
